Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

Oh. Zip-tie them together...hmm.

🤔🤔🤔
Done!

The cattle panel pieces were long, but not very wide.

I bent them flat, and took the shorter one up on the porch. It fit just below the roof/ceiling. I placed it close to the porch support, the end on the porch slightly at an angle, so it was leaning towards the railing.

I zip-tied the panel to the railing, with the sharp ends of the cattle panel towards the porch support. I needed to use 2 ties, zipped together.

It felt fairly stable, but I used a clamp to secure the panel to the siding trim.

Another view after I added the other panels.

I cut the longer piece of cattle panel to match the other. It left a shorter length. I thought on it, briefly, then attached the shorter piece between and overlapping the others, tying the panel horizontals together with smaller zip-ties.

I didn't trim the ties. Yet.

I can add more as needed.

The panels feed secure enough, attached to the rail, each other, and on the concrete porch floor.

Ta da!

:clap Zip ties are just great for so many things. It looks like your trellis extension is going to work just fine. One of the best things I like about using zips - other than that they are super cheap - is that if the project does not work out, you can just remove the zip ties and do something else. It does not have to be a permanent commitment.

I was in Menards yesterday and picked up a 500 pack of assorted sizes and colors of zip ties that is on sale this week...

:caf Yeah, I have a good supply of zip ties, but at that price, I picked up a pack and threw it into the cart. I wanted to have a selection of different colored cable ties if needed. It's also nice to have different sizes. And, it's not like the zip ties will go bad with age sitting in the garage.

Another good place to get cable ties, sometimes for free, is at Harbor Freight...

:yesss: Every few months, it seems that Harbor Freight gives out a 100 pack of zip ties for free on promotion just for coming into the store and looking around. Look for these promotions online if you have a Harbor Freight in your shopping area. Hey, they are free just for going into the store! I already got the free screwdriver and free gloves this weekend. If I go into town today for anything, I will pick up the zip ties for free.

:clap Well, I already have about 6 packs of those zip ties that I got for free from Harbor Freight. I keep on finding more and more uses for them.

@gtaus you have to see this:

This is the inside of a used shed I'm planning on buying. Look at what someone attached to the underside of the loft ⬆️

It looks as if someone added those pallet supports as a way to store boards or other long/thin items overhead.
I see the beginning of a beautiful coop 😜

Looks like they needed it for something like that. I measured my notches and they are only about 1-1/2 inches, so you could not fit anything thick into that gap.

Seeing that picture made me think of putting something like that on the ceiling in the shed to hold rods and reels up and out of the way when stored for the winter. I think that would work, too.

Thanks for the picture.

:caf BTW, I have the same type Gambrel roof in my chicken coop. Lots of good overhead for the heat to rise well above the chickens' heads when on their roosting bar for the night. I used the gambrel roof design because I wanted my chicken coop to look like a small barn in the backyard. But I have found that I really like the gambrel roof for the ventilation benefits. It also adds lots of room overhead to build a storage loft if one was to use it as a storage shed.

Ooh, rods and reels. That's a thought.

My first thought!

That's what the inside of my chicken coop looks like. But I think the shed in that picture is a little bigger than what I have.

I was thinking gardening shed. And chicken stuff shed.

ETA: goat shed... 🐐 🐐 🐐

How big is that shed? Looks like you could use if for lots of different stuff.

FWIW, over the years, I have decided that if I ever build another chicken coop, it will be a shed conversion type of setup. That way, if I ever stop having chickens, I still could have a nice garden shed for storage.

:tongue My brother-in-law had a shed that he had to move. I tried to talk him into moving it in all one piece. But he would have had to rent a flatbed trailer for a day to move it. So, he took the shed apart and moved everything in the back of his pickup. Unfortunately, the shed never got put back together correctly. Basically, he lost all the value of that shed.

I was thinking big chicken coop hooked up to a hoop coop/run.

I bet he could fit a lot of chickens into that shed. Or goats. Looks like it is in good condition.
