Show me your poop boards!

Any reason PDZ is so preferred? Could I use kitty litter? Would our be less effective or harmful for the chickens?

PDZ is Zeolite, which is way more absorbent of ammonia than anything else. Even kitty litter. That being said, some people just use regular sand or shavings. So kitty litter is a middle ground.

Haven't started using it yet, but this is my scoop.

That's clever. Do you have to clean underneath the coop then or just let it compost in place under there? Also, do you get cold weather? That seems like a big opening, and I am wondering if it would be a problem with cold weather.
I just rake under the coop out into the yard every few months. It's extremely rare for us to get lows in the single digits, but it does occur. Even the high teens and low 20s is pretty rare. Lots of folks seem to forget heat rises and cold doesn't, but in any case, whatever the outside temperature is it's going to pretty much be what the inside temperature is in my coop so summer time is more of a concern for me, but my coop is in full shade by about 3:30 PM. I will say though, that the inside of my coop is dry as a bone no matter what the weather is outside. I've never seen the first drop of condensation and there are absolutely no leaks when it rains---and we've had plenty of it in the year and half since I built it.

I know the are more boards full of poop out there... @Faraday40 @Molpet @Texas Kiki @KikiLeigh02 @007Sean since you post a lot with me on other forums, I hope you will join in here too. :) sorrh for the call out, just hoping to see some action in this forum.
Pics, pics, and more pics please
Thanks for the invite but I don't use poop boards in my pheasant enclosures....but if i see something that tickles my fancy, I'll comment on it!

Basically I have a 2x4 roost with a shelf below it. On the shelf I use these... I pick them up free at the grocery store. I put a little bit of hay in them and change them out weekly. Takes me all of one whole minute.
