Buttons... I doubt those little guys can take that. They don't give off enough body heat to keep themselves warm.

Cortunix... Mine did fine IN a building down to -25f. I did have a heat lamp over their water to keep it from freezing but I don't think it threw enough heat to help the quail.

I guess I raised them for meat and eggs. If you are interested in Buttons, I would imagine you are after pets/eyecandy. If that is the case, I would give them a "house" with some form of heat. They don't roost to keep their feet warm so extreme cold on wire will probably cost you some birds

So the cortunix would be fine?
I guess I will just have to raise the buttons in the house.
I would raise the cortunix for meat and eggs and the buttons would be for sale and eyecandy.

Gosh here are a couple new threads to add with new cage posts. This one is very well made with lots of floorspace for lots of birds.

This one is made with breeding in mind for breeding coveys of 5-6 birds each cage. Made of pallets and hardware cloth. I really like this conservative style!

,my first shot at building a quail cage,size is 18 inches high at front,14 inches at the back 24 inches deep and 76 inches long,I have 12 quail at the moment but hoping to hatch more when I can get the eggs

This is picture I took right before I brought it outside. I built it out of a bunch of scrap lumber. I guess the only thing I bought to build it is the hardware.
