My preference is to call them cryptic as they can be seen when not in the presence of the heavy vegetation. Purpose of image was to contrast with your well manicured lawn. I have very little control over ranging habits when grass short and all the same. Complexity of environment enables keeping free-range groups roughly where I want them, provides cover from predators and provides a lot more in the way of forage. Tops of pens can be seen near crest of hill.

Missouri Dom, not a game but cryptically colored.

What you cannot see are pathways cut with fencing.running down the middle.

here you go if it's good enough for the turkeys it's good enough for the chickens. No vegetation management involved. I either broke the belt or ran out of gas in the lawnmower.

what color u speak of? They come white/black and golden/black that I know of
Either.. the White/black would be ideal... but I think that golden/black would be cool as well... I have a feeling if I crossed them with BBR games they would most likely be golden (thats what my intuition tells me)... If I had a miner blue like SDM I think I could get the white/black color. That would be a cool project... breeding new color games.. they'd be popular amongst people who show only...

I got a new stag last night... Ad on craigslist selling two stags for $10 each.. This guy didnt know what he had.. and he was glad to get rid of them. I may pick up the other one today after work.

I will try to get a picture this afternoon.

I am leaving for England tomorrow, so I will be offline till Feburary. My brother is staying at my house and will take care of my chickens. I hope nothing bad happens, I am so nervous. I worry way too much.

Yeah but you would destroy the. "Game" in them.
yeah I suppose. I still think that with proper breeding you could get the traits you want while maintaining the game gene. It will take a several generations and a lot of culls.

I know the hardcore game guys wont approve.. but my experiment with the Moderns will prove them otherwise. haha

will be interesting to see if you can keep them game.

I dont have any Lakenvelders (yet)... but the Modern game cross seems to working out good so far. I will know more as he reaches full maturity.

The Modern Gamecock I did have (RIP) passed away fighting for his life. So I think he was game despite the accepted belief that Modern Games are no longer game.

I believe that gameness is trait that can be passed on, just like other traits (toppy, leg color, etc.). The more I breed towards the American Game side the better chances of breeding true games and not dunghills. Just need to select for color and gameness in the case of the Lakenvelder Game crosses.

In the case of Moderns I was trying to select for long legs, but the only cross that survived (white rooster I post) ended up with standard length legs. But I think I can remedy by breeding him back to his mother.. and taking their offspring and breeding towards American again.

For me its all about experimenting and having fun with it. If I get a few dunghills I can always cull them from breeding program.
