That is true but kelsos just mainly used for speed, like a good cross between a proven Grey hen for their aggression and kelso cock for speed. I don't see many sweaters used for speed crosses, don't really par up like a hatch.

Back then, Walter A Kelso fought them as is, because they were made up from several crosses. They blended anything they could if they thought it would make them better and especially if the cock was proven multiple times. 90% of the pure families are a make up of several other families that another breeder did the same to make them. The only thing different now days, the breeders rarely show them multiple times(because of the laws) to prove their worthiness to put in a brood pen

Yeah maybe flypen

Idk, they had all kinds of ideas that maybe this will help, and color was a big deal with some of the old guys. If you ever went to a major show or championship, all you ever saw were reds and greys. They didn't want no one knowing what was bred in them.

Really don't even want me to get started on it, it's all one big shame really in my eyes. There is no real breeding anymore, once I can move somewhere with a bigger area I plan on starting a program and actually make a breed (name). I got ideas on some nice birds, a lot of them go unnoticed can't even find Warhorse! I know a good proven warhorse cock would whoop half the birds people are pitting now. I know a lot of them are non truthful, not being racist but mainly the Mexicans they cheat and I've seen it with my own eyes. The training nowadays pfft even poorer then back when you had unethical methods like throwing stags in turkey pens or barrels of water. I've came across a small handful who band their birds but still not breeders. They don't even pit stags or bullstags, nor naked heel which I understand are very lentghy fights but that's the true way of seeing the gameness a cock possesses. And if you ask me naked heel should be legal as the pitters dont pull on the bird to get them going just set them down and let one another find the other. Gaffs and Knives are unlawful but as an age old blood sport it will never be legal again, everyone gets offended nowadays by anything.

And that's why a name matters cause u expect a style (shubin) lol or a certain color
Judge Wilkins (known for his Butchers) made the Typewriters. He was sent 2 Irish Blue hens, a year later he put a Butcher cock with the 2 Irish hens and about half the stags came blue breasted. He told his son to kill all the blue colored ones, but his son took them home and finished raising the stags. He brought them back to his father a year later and talked his dad into sparring them against his Butchers. The rest is history. They got their name while they were in a keep by the way they were pecking the tin cups as they were eating.

And I remember those going by styles too, Radios with batshit aggression or typewriters with cutting abilities unlike most. Like yall said just cross in this cross in that and all birds seem alike just different colors. I know some reza or rampuri asil could do better in gaffs then a lot of these fowl they pit in some old man's backyard. Don't get me wrong I've seen some good fowl but their blood is authentic.
