This guy was up early and following me around the yard checking traps. Almost got a little too close. Guess he's my helper.

Well I hope you get them raccoons.

I was planning on working on my yard while it was cool today, but I got to take hubby to hospital, last weekend it was a blood clot in the leg from the chemo meds, but now the anti-clot meds appear to be causing internal bleeding. So off to get the show on the road and to the hospital.

Well they did tests sent him home, so he has been resting & watching Godzilla movies. They will contact us latter but he is having issues.

On the chicken front I ordered some corner feeders and nipples to build a watering system. I am thinking a gravity operated watering system. It's been darn hot and I have had to put multiple waterers in their coop, so I am thinking a big bucket system might work better for this weather.

I woke up this morning to a black racer snake eat 4 of my month old butcher hatch roundhead babies. I shot the snake and cut the chicks out of its belly but I was too late.

Thanks, and faith has gotten us along, that and a good battle plan. He is feeling better today so he decided to go hang out with some of his buddies, which is good for him versus staying home 24/7. The guys are good guys so they will take good care with him.

Oh that sucks, snakes have me worried here too, I have only ever seen poisonous ones in my area, in theory according to the nature manuals for my area there are non-poisonous ones, but I have only ever dealt with rattlers and I am totally worried one of those will slither into the yard. I am so sorry you where unable to save them. I have seen a big black tom cat stalking around my yard (not one of my two cats) I think he is trying to get at my birds. My black cat wants nothing to do with the hens and my yellow one used to try but gave up after one too many hosings and counter attacks by the big hen... lol.... but this stray is huge and could take a grown bird down no problem. I think I may need to do more than chase him off.
