I will use both probably. Would rather use a broody of course. But if I don't have any hens wanting to set I shall fire up the incubator. I don't hardly have any more room for anymore though. Well I have the room just not the pens or the $ for feed.
The dust in my basement is worth using a broody alone.

Brood hens are way better than the incubator but...

I feel bad taking the chicks away from mama hens so I end up letting her raise them (or at a least a few of them). Which creates wild / untamed chickens. In my experience, broody mamas who loose their chicks on the first day or two end up going broody right away again... which can be advantageous, but I feel bad cause they are so malnurished/dehydrated by then. Is my anthropomorphism showing through again? haha

I was joking. I don't drink lattes. I'm not even sure what they are. I do drink a bunch of coffee though. Just a regular coffe pot here. I fill my thermos throughout the hunting season. Those Keurigs won't work for me.

I work mine like dogs. This yr they'll get a break only 3or 4 hatches

cant work em that hard without paid sick leave, vacation days etc..

It is pretty amazing how little a broody hen will eat and drink while setting
