anything specific? It just has to keep them alive, nothing fancy. Is cracked corn oily?
How about a decent scratch mix? It is not fancy. Whole soy beans tend to have more oil though. Most mixed feeds/rations have oil added to them for palatability and proper nutrition, but for the short term, something is better than nothing.

It's sad to assume just because he may or may not be a gamecock (stag) that he automatically was used for fighting or abused. You know what they say about assumptions.

Oh no, I never said I thought he was abused or fought. The cat literally dragged him home at a week old. Sadly, in our area I wouldn't be shocked if he would have ended up either in a fighting situation(Regardless of breed) or a pot. Most likely the pot. He's just lucky the cat didn't kill him. I just remind him how spoiled he is! He's a house chicken now, not outside in 120 degree heat all summer. Assuming he was fought or abused due to his breed is like assuming all pit bulls are fought...I know better than that! I was hoping I could possibly pinpoint him as a gamefowl or at least a mix of gamefowl to better understand him or at least be able to tell people what he is when asked. Plus, the gamefowl birds are the prettiest I've seen! I hope to see more colors come in as he matures. No assuming here!

yea he looks like a keeper to me. People really like that coloring.

Some guys on here have a few that look like him. they should post photo *hint*

He's a very cool bird. Funny, smart, and sweet...when he wants to be. He's only 4 1/2 months right now. Do the gamefowl have distinct personality traits you see over and over again or is it all on an individual basis? I can google it but would rather hear from the people that own them and understand them. Bear with me, he's my first chicken/cockerel. Are there negative personality traits that I should watch out for? I plan on keeping Nugget as a pet for good, just want to be able to curb any poor personality traits should they appear.

flypen have u heard from your people from yesterday or the day before

I did, most of their fowl were saved except for one friend lost 130 adult birds and close to 500 young ones. He drove by to check on them Monday, he said he would swim if he had to, almost all the caged birds didn't make it. Most all of the larger free range he found on top of his garage and shop. I seen a video of the yard after most of the water went down, it wasn't pretty.

Geez! You just don't think about this kind of thing until it happens. Heartbreaking! So sorry to hear this!

Your birds are beautiful! Do you breed them? Their coloring is fantastic!
