I don't disinfectant much but when I do I use virkon. The ratio is rather low so the tablets don't go far. Usually I'll just use it where a dead animal or something was not as a ongoing thing. When I used incubators I'd spray them with bleach water between hatches but that's about it. I feel the less chemicals the better. Makes for stronger more tolerant birds and I haven't had any outbreaks or issues with sicknesses like respiratory, cocci, mereks, and I welcome pox which my young ones get every summer and haven't lost any to it and they're immune for life. In 3yrs I've had 3 I think natural deaths as in not by clever and I've hatched alot

I do give a round of corid when chicks go to the ground from above ground pens though

I believe that's the web page. I use tec trol. I rinse my eggs that I hatch with it, clean out brooders incubators and hatchers with it, it kills just about anything. I have used it without gloves when washing eggs and the worst thing it does is dryes my hands out . I think that open concept of Mother Nature is great but I would still spray the ground between birds. I think that's what I will do for this next season. Thanks.... I'm so thankful for this site and all the knowledgeable people on here. So much easier to learn how to tend to ur bird and what better to do for ur birds thru multiple people it gives u a great deal of options that could work for a given situation

Freezing rain coming here to got some yesterday where birds 20 feet from door had ice on them. Many mail boxes died and even more cars found their way into ditch. Today expected to be much worse and to be followed by near blizzard conditions.

Owls also hunting in daytime now.

Yeah I walked out on the deck and almost broke my neck. So instead of hunting I spent the morning watching The cat in the hats Christmas. Oh what fun.
