Quote: I agree. It does look like some feather picking going on. I may suggest she give them something to do - I feel that boredom is a major cause of feather picking. Maybe she can hang some veggies or fruit - mine seem to love that.

Thanks for the input

Way off topic:
OK senator introduced a bill so people could shoot down trespassing drones without any civil or criminal liability.
In my ridiculous state a couple of guys got in a world of hurt for doing it. Mainly because there was a firearm discharge ordinance in the town. Lol

you can only shoot them down with a blowgun... duh

Flying down the average neighborhood street with zoom. I don't think the law will do much. I guess it'll stop having a drone at your window

I live in an unincorporated village so no discharge within city limits. As long as I'm 150' from a street (measured from the street center)

I had to verse myself in the law so I could shoot people's pets and be legal

Anyone ever notice hens "covering" eggs on cold nights? I have some hens that were close to setting, and I thought they had, but turns out they were just covering the eggs for the night. They were back off they next day. Can they be that perceptive?

Another thing I noticed is that they pluck a little down for the nest a day or two before actually committing to set. Anyone ever notice this too? They never cease to amaze me.

Four setting now and supposed to be 16 Friday and Saturday night.

The feather plucking yes. Matter of fact that is one of the things the humane society brought up on a seize around here. The hen was broody and had a bare chest and they claimed she was in poor health. And u know the average person don't know anybody and believe their lies

I don't know but that's an eye opener for me. I just figured they were quitting on em or just not ready to set. I may be the dumb one after all.
I have only noticed the down feathers in the nest once they've been setting and I caught a glimpse of the nest while they were off it.
