I have thought for a long time that you and shubin are in reality the same person operating under two accounts for purpose of yanking people.
Nah not quite. I enjoy the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping etc. As you already know trout especially but most fish require clean water. Nothing worse than actually seeing firsthand the effects of acid mine runoff killing every living thing in a stream including the insects.
Lack of access to the public lands once some utility gets a permit in a given area. The list goes on and on. Over development to line the pockets of some fat*ss that could care less about the land he's destroying to put up another family dollar. That is only built in the first place because of the available tax breaks.

Old time republican lawmakers who swear by protecting rights and privileges of hunters and fishermen do d*mn near everything in their power to help the big $$$ developers all over the country. Screwing up, and restricting access to thousands of acres of public lands in the process. All this while they pay big money to go dove and pheasant hunting with their cronies on some private ranch most Americans couldn't afford to step foot on. Shooting each other in the *sses with their great grandaddys break action bird gun.

The other end of the spectrum is obviously worse. The AR ninjas, anti gun, anti hunting etc.. If not for the few hunters and fishermen left that actually care there wouldn't be any land left. Shubin and the bird watching crowd just don't get it done.

I gotta see balance on the landscape management scene. Bird watchers and the are a bit weak in the tooth to be sure. Hunters are better in some areas for promoting interest in ditches and woodlots that are good for small game. By small game I mean white-tailed deer on down. We need more buy in from farmers and ranchers. Many of those can have position that natural systems are counter productive. Yeh, sometimes but not always. Sheep and goat farmers here with a little more size can effectively use dogs to protect stock. The smaller guys graze ground to death. My pet bees do not do so good with some of the pasture management that pretty much wipes out flowers the bees can work, especially from now through frost. Rabbits and quail here pretty much toast because every body manages for cool season grasses and keeps fence rows too clean. I like to see coon hides with some more value like at least $20 per hide. Not so much for my chickens but rather to reduce pressure on ground nesting birds. And coyotes, even though exotic here, could be given a break to help get fox numbers, especially red fox a little down. Just a little actual prairie around here would be awsome too. Maybe 10% of landscape with connects between come patches would be some thing worth investing in. Could go on and on. Right now all I can muster is how my ground is managed. It is getting back to prairie on most but then you go to grow up and deal with the problems of having a yard that is not cut grass.
