Yeah I only hatch from about 3 weeks after they start laying (end of Feb ish) to end of April beginning of May at the latest. I may hatch for other people later if they demand it

Twig and berry shock prevention. These are much cheaper, light duty. Made in China. Oh well.

Yeah I have seven high and a 5foot section with 3 high. It comes up to just below, well, it comes up to my thighs. I step over. I deenergize it first. Forgot once won't forget again hit a rather sensitive area

Ahh that's the difference I don't turn mine off to feed and water. The last time it got me I backed up into it with my left leg but it went out my right and I had a headache the rest of the day. Then the time I was getting a cock out with a net (mean black) and bumped the metal handle on the wire behind me with the front part of the net on the pen all while my left hand was holding the wire of the pen too. Knocked me right on my *ss. I swear it felt like somebody drop kicked me in the back.

I've got 7 wires too and 3 wires before the handles but the lower three are below my knee. I wanted em closer together at that height. Might be overkill but that leaves my gate opening with too much of an open space above the 3 for me with all the foxes I've got around here.

Yeah anything higher than they can touch without touching the ground is useless. Better used lower than higher. My 5 1/2 foot high strands are just for phycological warfare

And let me tell ya I can't drag my dog to it. We tested it with my dog and my wife's cat and evidently it puts a good charge out the way they vibrated. My control head is about 20yrs old so it puts out a full 110

It's pre Peta

I hit enough electric wire in my childhood I have no desire to have it now. I got a good dog and a regular privacy fence. Everything inside the fence with the dog is safe. I was constantly worried about my guineas because they were wandering outside the fence and roosting on the roof. Had to catch them and they went to live with my dad's guineas. I'm still mad about losing that hen that made her nest outside the fence.

Both my chargers are the intermittent type but they dropped my Doberman straight to the ground so it's fine. I've seen 2 foxes touch them. One sneezed and ran off the other one hit the ground and ran to the other fence where that one got him too lol. If I ever see something go through it I'll change.

Our electric fence growing up was for the horses, not the chickens. For the chickens we had dogs and any barking or chickens making racket and daddy was up in the middle of the night running out in his underwear with a gun. Lol.
