Shubin u may want to start making dome or round growout pens cause them ones u got from me ain't gonna coexist with nothing

You won't have one up on any other breeder. A bird is either game or not there is no middle ground. I suggest you rethink your ways before those birds you just hatched grow up. Having a free range rooster running around "game" stags in pens is going to get annoying fast.
I have every rooster I own gamefowl and non all penned for that reason.
They are not idiots for kicking the pen. They have been bred to fight for a long time, you ain't changing it that's just what they do. They forget all about the wire and are only focused on the other bird. That's a good thing. No distractions. Convenience and gamefowl in the same sentence isn't conmon. Lol

I am breeding for what I want and I don't sell many chickens. I usually give them away mostly to people I trust.

I have never had a problem with runners. I have never seen any of my cocks back down.... which is way different than haphazardly instigating a kicking match through a fence.

And to be honest he initially did fight through the fence. But I let the two exercise their sport for a minute, and afterwards he had no interest in going back. He was tired and got it out of his system.

JShubin,

You need to get practical. Your "quazi" gamestag is going to get his courage and you will ruin two roosters even for your intended use. True runners of entirely game breeding are not as common as you have been told. What complicates the picture is the social environment and health of the bird. Your social environment may be appropriate for delay start of pen fighting but their health is not going to be your friend. Your birds look to be in top form physically.

I can only say that ALL my fowl are in pens for a reason. A few weeks ago I was moving pens and one of sdm's stags shot out from under the corner of the pen as I was moving it, he did not want but one thing. They don't care how old or how big their opponent is, just that he wants to be number one or the only one. My blacks start fighting when they're only 6 to 8 weeks old, just about the time you can tell the stags from pullets I have to separate them. I have never had or seen a stag of that age that could free range anywhere close or in sight of another. I'm not saying he is not game but I am saying that is very unusual in any gamefowl of any bloodline. jmo

Centra is right I believe I may have ruined a good bird by allowing a guinea to wander around my yard. My mel Simms has tore himself up over that guinea getting too close to his pen. Guess what the only other bird that goes nuts when the guinea gets close is one of my flytying roosters that's penned. None of the other gamefowl are bothered by him. You never know when it will happen but it's usually never worth the aggravation of fixing him up. Imo it's not worth the risk.
