So is there a preferred weight? Like Cock too small would get rolled and a cock too big wouldn't have the stamina?

Looking back at the Games I saw when younger I remember them being good size fowl. Though I was smaller then to.

Toppies are gaining popularity here in the area. I think someone got a hold a of a legit Trio $$$

Toppies he saw were either straight or a cross between toppie lines. Most I recall seeing, including ours at events, where crossed.

We are getting another freezing mist event and this one appears to be the real deal. Simply walking to edge of porch is a real challenge. All birds getting froze up again and this time looking real rough. Only one hen roosting high up in corner of barn is not affected. Even gravel in barn is getting slick. Getting to work tomorrow is going to take a couple of hours when normal trip takes 20 minutes.

That sucks. Any frostbite issues with your flock in that type of weather?

Not directly related, but can be a problem is blizzard conditions hit while feathers are messed up for birds in pens. All are in good weight so if it gets real cold again with snow / ice on the ground they may stay off ground for a couple days straight before coming down even for feed. The tree roosting birds sometimes did the same.

You can always put some straw down for them. They’ll get right down.

Ugh rain. Not sure when I moved to Louisiana

The only birds I have that roost when it's cold are my hatches the rest stay in the hay.
