Gameness first but you also expect to see certain characteristics with certain breeds. So I'd say both but characteristics (color, comb type etc)) the latter. If someone were to show me a straight comb roundhead I'd have to pass roundheads should never be straight comb. Or sweaters shouldn't be green legged

I haven't asked a sufficiently dumb question in a while, so here's mine. Do you breed for a specific colour pattern, or just take whatever jumps out of the egg as long as it's game?

I dont breed for color and often mix up colors. I look for other traits and try to find good pairs. Although I do like keeping multiple colors just for the sake of variety and amusement.

Colors are the first thing you notice.... everyone probably considers it on some level.

I should clarify there's some more to it but that's a start. It doesn't matter with 50/50 crosses but when you start infusing and outcrossing the colors matter more

I agree with SDM, when keeping pure strains people tend to cull those that do not conform to color and other traits that define the breed.

just an double loop extension spring... big pan head securing the spring to door, and a wood screw to latch onto. (the diameters of the screw heads make it possible)

Lol yeah I just put my last new one on but the pen is reserved for a roundhead hen that's coming. I am gonna spend some time this weekend with roofs and straw
