Yesterday I was in my shop and heard one of my hens going crazy on something and one of her chicks squealing, so I took off to break up the squabble and the hen jumped on me. I started looking for the chick that had been squealing and under a stack of angle iron against the wall of the shop I seen it's little legs stretched out and barely moving, so I grabbed a stick to pull it out with and I hit something that wasn't solid. I grabbed some of the angle iron to move it back and caught a glimpse of a black rat snake, I poked him several times to get him to come out but he wasn't having it. I took off up to the house to grab a BB gun, when I got back he got pulled out and popped in the back of his head. I didn't take a picture because I didn't need my wife to come out and catch me with him, so I stuffed him in a bucket and jumped on the golf cart. I did measure it when I got out of sight, 63" with my dang chick in his belly. Sorry piece of crap! At least I got him before he got a full belly.

Holy moly... 63".. too bad he was after chicks and not rats..
Well, I have a cat that does really good job, plus I use One Bite bait that seems to work very well. This one was at my buddies house yesterday, he's pretty good size to.

You guys have too many damn snakes. Aside from garter snakes I’ve only found one big black snake in my yard. I threw him in the woods across the street.

I was expecting some kind of spoon or something... how do you like it? is it easy?
Well I already had it for duck hunting but it works good. Takes som practice to get the eggs out of deep holes but it’s not too hard.
I’ve got one cock that don’t like the hook and he beats it up best he can. He don’t like much anyway.

They keep coming back. Moved one over 400 feet on four occasions last year. it kept making its way back to barn. It had scars associated with first encounter enabling me to recognize it. The Black Rat Snake went after chicken eggs while the Black Racer went after mice in the open. Very different hunting techniques.
