Any pics of wheaton colored games less than a week old? I think some wheaton snuck in with pullet I got a couple years back.

I know that this is an American Gamefowl thread, but I was hoping some of you nice people could help me out a bit. So here’s the story, I brought home a Golden Sebright-Old English Game mix bantam pullet as a companion for a lone Frizzle Bantam hen. They are getting along nicely the only problem is that they both like to pick fights with my Easter Egger hen and my 2 Ameraucana pullets. I know that some of it has to do with pecking order but the Sebright Old English Game mix seems to go out of her way to fight with my Ameraucana pullets. The bantams and large fowl are housed separately but I let them free range together in my backyard. Is there anything I can do to cut back on the bantam Sebright-Old English Game’s agression towards my Ameraucana pullets?

You have two subflocks where the aggressor is going after birds in the rival flock. If no real damage, then do nothing. If damage, then first mix up social groups so aggressor is removed from ally.

So far there has not been any damage but I do stay outside when I let the bantams out to make sure they don’t hurt the big girls or get hurt themselves. I guess I will have to alternate when the 2 flocks can be out free ranging. Thanks for your help.

That bantam isn’t likely to actually hurt the Easter egger. Most hens quit after awhile and go on there merry way.

She seems to be intimidated by the Easter Egger hen but she goes out of her way to pick fights with my Ameraucana pullets. Have you ever had a hen or pullet show this behavior?

I have a leiper hen that sleeps in a coop with a few layer hens. She beat the sh*t out of over 20 hens one by one. Now they get along just fine. They just give her a wide berth. Nonetheless I have game pullets and layers running all over the place. They fight a little every day. It’s normal. One will back down eventually unlike game roosters.
Some pullets will just walk up behind another and tee off on them for no reason. Lol

In my setting each year their are little subflocks based on a brood or brooder cohort that runs only with "family". When the little groups come together there is often discord although usually things do not get beyond vocalizations before one group backs down and moves off. When fighting does occur, it can be a numbers game where more is better. Having mom nearby can have a 4 week old chicks successfully backing 8 week old juveniles down even though mom does not get involved. This occurs even before pecking order sets up in the chicks.
