They have bad reputation but they are great. Can be wild if left alone, but when tamed they are really gentle.Lol didn't mean to set you off. Like I said, I really am interested in learning more about game fowl.
As for guineas, my current 4 eat way more ticks and bugs then my 6 chickens ever have. They are louder then roosters and since we have a lot of racoons, fox, and coyotes around it is kinda necessary to keep them as I have quite literally seen them chase off a full grown fox. Which means my chickens don't become someone else's dinner since they all free range during the day.
I grew up with a few guineas at my parents so I guess I'm used to their antics, they're quite funny birds and the males don't generally go into fighting mode like roosters do.
My husband is very interested in game fowl too so I'm trying to figure out if they would be a good addition to our hobby farm or if it would be better to love them from afar, so to speak. Lol
I like how 1cocktwohens said they are regal. Like lions. And are more natural and have good instincts. Not overly domesticated and are vigorous. They are not for everybody but if you have respect and admirations for them then you are probably a good candidate. Just need to keep roosters separate no matter what. Kids like them..
