LOL you ever process and eat a duck?
All the time. I love duck hunting. I’ve never eaten a duck raised for food though. I don’t like duck eggs either. They’re my wife’s otherwise I wouldn’t have them since they make a mess of water bowls.

What did you do with him? I know what they are but do they even mess with chickens?
My dad caught this one at his house with the trap. He decided he was going to tame it lol I told him if it messes with the chickens we will know what grilled Ringtail tastes like. He's in a pen with water and a pear to munch on.

Cool deal. I just read about em and it says they can be easily tamed and can be just like a cat.

Be working on taming it for trips to vet. That whole family is prone to all the dog and cat illnesses that otherwise making keeping them dicey. Vaccinations.
The vet won't be opposed to keeping the Ringtail? He's definitely still young and has a lot of growing to do. I gave it a dust bath yesterday. Handling him with thick welding gloves.

That is a vet by vet case on whether issue is to be had for keeping critter. These days permit is better saught and I do not know how particular the wildlife management people are on that. When I kept raccoons and other things as a kid we had no issues other than make certain raptors were in pipeline for rehabber. Vet we used did a lot of business with us on dogs, hogs, cattle and horses so slipping in a raccoon was not a major deal. Only took one in that required two people to retrain for vaccination. After that they were tamed so no fiasco. A 25 lb sow can be a hand full when it does not want to be handled and the stress is hard on critter too. That was some time ago and vet knew me well. If I were to work with such again, then a permit would be sought.

If you keep him, are you prepared to have him roaming pen area every night. I had a raccoon that did such forcing us to up our game on protecting chickens in a big way. Raccoon that is not scared of you will invest a lot more effort in trying to get into pens. A lot more.

Permit huh going to have to look into that.
Gave him another pear right now, and some rabbit food. Still hissing at me lol
