If you read back though some history it’s been said that modern day “wingates” look nothing like the originals. I really don’t care either way but I bet when you find one it will be riding a unicorn.

I see what you are saying, and I don't disagree, I just think it would be cool to see what the line has transformed into...and really guess it just went to the crapper since no one breeds them anymore lol.

I sure wouldn’t say anything is in the crapper. Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it isn’t better or worse. That you’d have to find out for yourself.

Mine, if information correct, are related to Wingates. They do differ from proper brown reds but that has happened in the last 12 years or so without outbreeding involved.

I have no pure brown red blood but I bred a full brown red rooster to a pure red quill hen and this is the rooster I kept. He is 18months now
