I will never understand the “pure” talk. I understand calling birds by what they look like or who were supposedly bred by. By the time one person obtains birds or eggs from another there will be more than likely a conversation between the two parties. Then said person who has the birds will tell all he knows. Very few people will have valid information that will date back to original breedings. I know some will especially with more recent breeders. Red quill ain’t one of them though. I’d wager everything I have that most red quill of today have Old English ginger quill in them for color.
