Brown red is just a color variation... you cant make any assumptions based on color alone. pure Brown red doesnt even make sense. Its a variation between black and the typical black breasted red.

My "hatchs" are just black breasted reds (BBR) And they are crosses. I could call them all three of those things and it would be alright.

But they could be completely different than a Hatch or BBR or cross from your side of the country

Wingate is not the first guy to have brownreds.. that color was around before him... just like BBR was around before Hatch.
