Not blacks budro, but I appreciate it. They are all handling real well now getting better an better, i work with them all as much as I can some on cords some in building.

At what age do yal start putting stags on tie cords? I've been told not to do it until 1yr because it will mess up the spur. This wouldn't matter if the stag wasn't left on the cord would it?

When they’re younger their spurs aren’t set. Take your finger and push on them. You can see and feel them wiggle a little bit. If you have the cinch type nylon strap cords you can attach the cord just below the spur for temporary time out of the pen. This kind of tie cord can be used on hens too.

If they’re just going to be out for a little while and there isn’t any other birds running loose it shouldn’t be an issue just attaching them above the spur as long as they aren’t hitting the end of it hard.
I’ve only used the nylon cinch strap type and the Oklahoma slip hitches for older birds with set or longer spurs.

I see where hens with spurs are a clear advantage. Stags they produce have spurs that are set by 7 months while the others not until about 10 months. You can put birds with early setting birds on tie-cords earlier.
