When you do the breeding can you stagger so only some hens are being used at any given time? It would setup for what are called cohorts where you have groups of biddies all about the same age within a given cohort. Biddies within a given cohort all require the same type of resources making so management easier. I also have to do the multiple cohort thing because simply not enough space. By the time second cohort is ready to start the first is ready for the first round of weeding out culls. I try to start collecting eggs for second cohort when first is about 6 weeks post hatch. That also allows for retrying hens used in that were a bust in the first round.

thanks centrarchid this sounds like the way to go to ensure all the hens get bread Pluto this will make it easier on me with the markings and record keeping.... ...

I might grab one I'm really after the cocks i do want to set up a breeding pen of Larry's grays and some of those silver bullets I'm not really in to white birds but id like to give it a try i have a good mix of Murphy hens now once i get the new cock ill call in the wing bands and figer out who is who i had a bad hatch out of the Murphy's this past breeding season so i hope things go a little smother this time around....

Cool deal, I rotate most of my brood fowl between two buudies and my brother so we keep them from getting to in-bred.

This is the Dinosaur I have been waiting for. American X Modern cross with the long legs of Modern and the body of an American. I hope its a pullet so that I can pair her with my #3 white stag from earlier this year.

I just gifted my friend a 4 month old pair (well three, but the RIR stag didnt count). Took a year to convince him, but he is on board now. Lives right down the street from me. Hopefully he catches the game fever

Shubin, that brown red is my Manfighter. He even likes to peck and kick at the water as I'm pouring it into his cup. He gets mad at me when he gets splashed in the face, looks at me like I'm teasing him. Lol

thats hilarious. My manfighter is the same way. everyday when I feed him, he just paces the fence, so I poke his beak just once through the wire and he jumps up and tries to kick me. Its our routine. love hate relationship.

Your brown red looks like one of my deceased rooster from a few years ago. Black Snow
