very dark like when i got them but i do rember on the yard of the old man i got them from he had 2 stags that where very spangled and i no those weren't the Narragansetts....

lol No sir, the Narragansett's shouldn't be spangled that's for sure. I like that Murphy stag that's the way mine come with very little white and a occasional white streamer.

Yes those coke bottles work fine.We've used them since plastic bottles were invented.They didn't make bottles like that when I started raising chickens.The odd shaped Coke bottles won't work,they don't hang right.I use them for laying crumbles also.The vienna sausage cans are for starter grower,I have to pen raise everything here.They come out of the brooder when they are big enough to stay in the 2x4 dog wire pens.Crossed pullets are turned loose,there's only 1 1/2 Thai 1/2 Grey pullet left of the 100+ I turned loose.All my wife's laying type stags are gone,I'm not gonna waste money and feed on laying roosters or crossed pullets.

What is getting the free range chickens? Do you have dogs to watch your property?

So I just read the whole article on Bobby Boles on UltimateFowl. Very interesting. He used Orientals grades which makes sense as far as the low set tail.
I've never owned an oriental in my life, but wouldnt mind having one or two.

I want to be a good breeder like him. He created his own grades and cross bred to find the best combinations of traits, which was typically hard hitting power houses (from what I read).
