You may want to reread some of Immanuel Kants work. Especially on whether animals feel pain etc.. I believe you may be just a little mistaken. You can't always apply what was said way back when to modern day.

Way back when was fairly recent, turn of the 19 century.
Any animal with a nervous system feel pain regardless of what he said about it .. (I am unfamiliar with what he said about that).

I can apply that (partial) quote because I feel it applies to the argument and I believe it to be true..

The full quote as it is normally read "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals" - Immanuel Kant

Which I also believe to be true and witness almost everyday.

I'm not disputing whether or not they feel pain. I'm saying the man your quoting is more appropriately known in some circles as one of the fathers of animal rights. Many of which have far reaching consequences even for you. I could go on and on but I wont. This issue is important to me and I have yet to hear a legitimate point come out of any wacky animal rights type. Usually the facts are so twisted to benefit the personal beliefs of the soft hearted who wants to believe we live in a world without pain and suffering. Misguided, naive and absurd is the nice way to put it.

Cruelty is very different from necessary, this must be kept in mind.

Just found that picture thing on my phone by accident and figured I'd throw it in.

Out of 8 penny hatch looks like I got 6 stags and 2 pullets. Can't be sure about the whitehackles just yet. I've been wrong a lot of times.
