Very cool article.. Good photo of your Rollo as well.. Named after the Viking?

Not by intention. Name had to start with an R indicating paternal line and be short enough for writing into available space of breeding chart. Brothers were Ralph, Ray and Rob. Ragnar not chosen as names designated before the Vikings series came out. Cock four year old.

Africanized honey bees just as apt to adopt a location without swarm traps. Otherwise joke although where human populations have had time to adapt they are not so news worthy as where such bees are not present. Beekeepers my brother knows in Mexico simply deal with bees as now most practical option. They still keep hives well away from homes or confined livestock. Same pattern of ignorance and familiarity applies to gamefowl.

yeah probably... My uncle did had one for while and could probably give me some info as well.

I've heard of African Bee problems in California but I have never seen any or heard anything (from people I know.) I don't think its that big a problem. I would like a wild bee colony as opposed to buying a domesticated queen.

but that's not Gamefowl talk. I don't have any good pictures from over the weekend.. I installed automatic sprinklers in my Aviaries.. I'm hoping to section off a portion to grow grass and maybe a grapevine in each aviary. It will also fill up the water cups automatically as well. Ill try to get picture tomorrow.

Good show.. but I haven't watched any this season yet. I have the same naming pattern with my children... Rhilee and Rihanna, and when I have a son (hopefully) I want to name him Ruslan or Rurik. Maybe Robert after my middle name.

I will have to say the inital use of names was not my idea for anything but the most venerable old birds. My wife is into names and I just went along for the ride. Names do work better for the general public as kids are not likely to say "here Blue 173, here Blue 173, come and eat this from my hand".

Feral, not wild. Bee stocks I use are all of feral origin and presumed to have at least some natural immunity to diseases in the area. They just do not breed as true with respect to color, again like games when compared to nongame breeds.

Put a box out with proper openings. In your parts killer bees will find it quick. They tend to be cranky so you will not be able to work them like I do in shorts without a veil.
your a baaaaaaaad man LOL bees are great as long as you give the necessary respect.

I have tons of bees in my yard this year, but no colony. I pulled all the weeds except the sunflowers. I want to get a bee box setup, but I need to do my research first.
looks like you could use some variety buddy, I have seeds

By the way I know a fair amount about mayflies and lifecycles, nymphs etc.. Just mainly from a fishing interest. However I do find particularly mayflies fascinating. Seems like since you do all that for a living you would at least have a passing interest in tying flies. Since after all the nymphs, pupae and duns are what your imitating anyway.
