Ain't too many people around here with barrels. I have been real nosy lately as I'm driving by farms since I read that a lot of dairy farms have them. Not sure what comes in the barrels though. I thought it was food coloring or something.

Blue barrels I can get are used for soda pop syrup at a Coca Cola plant in town.

I'll have to look around better. I may just build a few tepees. Some say they are better for summer use anyway. Neither seem great for winter use especially with the weather I had this past year. Besides nothing stands out like a blue or white barrel with a bird sittin on top of it. Lol

I am placing most in a obscured location, except when flying over in an airplane. A good dozen others will be out in a place plain to see. Advertisement of sorts will be done using birds attached to those exposed barrels.

Am I the only one who gets blue kote all over themselves when using it? I'm buying the spray when mine runs out. I go to work looking like I just got done finger painting.

Gotta watch out. The NSA will have drones all over your place.

Barrels, white being done first because I can not cut straight lines to save my life. They will be placed about 50' apart in a straight line with high weeds to obscure view of nest by raptors. The tubs are about 1/3 full of oyster shell which provides weight and excellent drainage rains really bad.

Do the birds roost on the tepee or inside?

I will never have the well manicured lawn like that. Partly because my ground is too hilly but I also value the greens that lawn supports very little of. I also want broodies to have cover patches that just are not pretty. A lot of effort is going into establishing more cover patches. A couple of the real cockers complain of hawk issues I simply do not have and they have the well manicured look to their setups. The well manicured look with long straight rows does enable more rapid feeding and watering without so extreme a need for good batteries in the flashlite like I have every morning and night.

I will try to a couple of the te\epees to see how they work up here. I have yet to see them in use in Missouri as most use barrels with ties or pens like I do currently. Pens are the poor man route.
