Right now i dont have any chickens at my house. I have some egg layers at my parents house. Six to be exact. Ive had them for almost two years now and have a rooster that was hanging around breeding with my hens when i let them free range and i hatched about fifty chicks from them. I did three sets in my uncubator and the first was not so geed but i had only one not hatch out of the second and third set of twenty eggs so almost 100 %. My first attempt the temp spiked and i didnt lock down the eggs on the last three days so after i started locking down my eggs. basicly not looking. I found itnworks much better. Lol my dad usedmto raise and "show" gamefowl when he lived back east. He is interested in getting back into iraising gamefowl as well so im looking to get somw good lines to start with. We have three 50 x 50 brooding pens set up as well as 12 6x6 stag pens and three more 50 x 60 pens set up to start some american game fowl. we have two seperate incubators with self turners in them. Both hold i beleive 52 or 48 eggs i cant remember without looking. We ordered electrolite and vitamin supplements for when the birds may need it. my dad ordered a bunch more stuff that i have not a clue what it all was. I know he ordered water dishes to hang inthe pens, feeders of different sizes and a bunch of expensive feed supplement for gamefowl. He said we need it cause he used to use it and its the best. Hes gettin old though so thats another reason im on this forum. For info. Were just wanting to start a hobbie for me and my kids and grandpa to all be involved in and build a good strong healthy family of gamefowl.

I think we have just about everything we need to get started less the gamefowl lol. Ive been researching gamefowl for around two years now. I really dont have any hands on experience with gamefowl to be honest. I really like gamefowl and have been wanting to get some of my own for some time now however my wife wouldnt let me because we didnt live on a lot of property and didnt want to piss off the neighbors. We have recently moved out to the country on ten acres with no neighbors so now she says i can so we built some pens so we arwnt scrambling last minute and got everything i can think of ready before hand. We orederd 20 grey eggs on ebay and none hatched so now im looking here on backyard chicken and locally but im not having any luck locally.

It's not easy managing games you might as well forget everything u know about layers cause other than they both lay eggs they really different from one another and if you're not up for the challenge it could be a catastrophe. At least you would have some mentorship with your father. The big pens unless divided up won't really do any good cause you're not going to be able to put a lot of games together without problems. U may want to look into dome pens for singles or pairing you're stag pens sound like that's more on the lines of what u want. What type of games u interested in?

Well depending on what u looking for sometimes the only way to hopefully get some is by buying eggs only problem is issues like u had or the eggs even being the type u supposedly bought.

Also I highly suggest not letting the eggs rest for a day or do like is suggested I say straight to the hen or incubator. I know people that have had great hatches and I firmly believe that is one of a few reasons why

Wow thats a lot of stuff for not having chickens yet. lol
Everybody has to start somewhere. I started when I was barely 20 years old with no coop or anything. I learned a lot from experience, and now that I am on this forum I am learning a lot more from the experienced guys.

Where are you located?

I would suggest buying trios and starting a breeding program rather than buying eggs and hoping for the best. As far as your pen situation, smd111 told you all you need to get started. 2x on taking care to be aware of the nature of the fowl you have chosen to "keep".
