I request a pic of this male in the sun so we can all see the mahogany glistening

In all seriousness. My state says that dubbing is acceptable for poultry as a last resort after housing and other conditions are changed first that may be causing damage to the comb and wattles. However like I said before its says the approved methods are clipped off, scalpel, and electrical something. (My guess is that means being cauterized) but all this should be done within days of hatch. Now can anyone explain to me how a baby chicks comb or wattles are causing problems within any type of housing. H*ll most don't have any comb at all, some do but obviously very small.
Now I'm interested in the possible cauterizing method if that will prevent it from growing in the future.
I can get the links to the text if anybody is so inclined to research this on their own. This is from the adopted standards for handling poultry that my wonderful state recommends

One thing I will say on the topic of game fowl and the governing body of law. Is that they were all enacted by those ignorant to the true nature of the sport. It has even been made so by some states that even if you are not matching your birds in the states they can still persecute you. Like it has been said, "freedom is not free". I have been to some countries that American society deems oppressed and I have to say, those that are fortunate enough to own property can do as they please on that property. Sadly that does allow so bad things to happen that then shapes our perception. Those that love the sport simply don't take the time to plead the case when it is up for debat. Therefore all the crazy laws that we deal with go unchallenged or by very few. If made and listened to a logical argument could change a lot in the world of cockers. To be heard we must first be willing to risk being seen.

You can legally keep laying hens in tiny cages as long as they can get up and turn around. You are allowed to debeak, toe trimming and dubbing although the recommended way is by electrode type device and to be done at 3 days of age?! Go figure. This is on my state.

You can also decrow, install no-crow collars, and put diapers on the birds. Shame of it all.

All I'm interested in is being able to legally own them wiithout being harassed. This ain't the place to discuss the rest.

Yeah no kidding. Not to mention some birds in certain circumstances need to be dubbed for health reasons.
1. Frostbite
2. Falling down over an eye.
3. Help prevent disease though insect bites.
4. Right or wrong for looks.
In many cases it just comes down to good husbandry along with the other issue of cutting spurs. Muffs are considered paraphernalia in many states. If I was allowed to use them I would not have had to separate a stag from two hens the other day along with applying blue kote to a hens back.
I could wrap spurs in vetrap but it doesn't look good. D*mned if u do and d*mned if u don't.
