Hey sdm11 did you mention you have blue mugs? i thought someone did. I was just wondering. so all my biddies have very unique feather coloring. I think its from the mclean hatch blood but im not positive. One of my hens has stags that are very quick. i lay them on their back to condition them by letting them flip themselves back over and i have two stags that are extremely fast at this and as soon as they flip back over they stay low to the ground and ready to counter attack.
I like that exercise too.. its a good indicator which birds are fast and strong. I dont know what to look for as far as "ready to counter attack" but I am guessing the faster to their feet the better.

IMO, The ones that do real good on this exercise tend to flip over quick (the same direction you turn them over) and almost jump away from me. I catch them midair sometimes and pull them back (by the base of their tail) so their feet drag like they are gripping the ground. Great exercise.

I noticed ones that are weak (or sick at the time) will give up and just lay on their back after a dozen times or so. The good keep going until I get tired of it.

Ringteal, I do best with an average of 50 grown fowl. Of course total head count goes up in the spring but I usually get rid of the chicks at a day or two old. As far as mine what I decide to keep I try to get off as many as I want to keep so my average stays the same. As far as ducks u plan on getting any mandarins

No that's actually my phone. The new camera takes awesome pictures but I have to wait till my wife gets home to hook something up to the computer to get the pics off of it that came today. Here's another I took while wade fishing for speckled trout when a storm was moving in

Nope right at daylight looking east and where the marsh meets lake ponchatrain's north shore. About an hr. North of the gulf about 5min from home. I was really scouting to see if they were moving in yet. They move into the marsh in the Fall following shrimp into the cooler water to feed and it is a lot of fun to catch and excellent eating. They come in schools and at one time I was sight fishing them. All in all they're coming but small school specks the larger will follow. I was just seeing if any were here yet it gets ramped up in a mo or so
