thats arenal nice boy baizerHard to tell but this is a PURE Black Devil Warhorse. I know that people don't like to use the word "pure" in relation to gamefowl but this is a true Black Devil and isn't loaded up with Sid Taylor or other blacks like many of the so-called Warhorses out there today. This gentleman who has this line traces it back to the 1880s. He will be used on some Hatch hens.![]()
shubin, are the there blacks i got from you warhorse mix? 1 of the 3 blacks i got from you , the lil ones turnes out to be stayed he is already babycrowing his saddles are growing out pointy and light red. He will have 2 sumatra henos!!! YeahThats cool... Any long term plans to breed back to black devil side? I have some warhorse in my black fowl, mixed them with hatch and spanish game fowl. old photo. (dont have these fowl anymore RIP). hen was warhorse/hatch, rooster was warhorse/hatch/spanish.This is my oldest black hen I still have. Double spurred. Grandaughter of above hen.

i have 2 of These. One of our first steps into chicken husbandry was to acquire this lovely lady and the 9 chicks she was still raising at that time. We named her "Cruella" (yes, like the Disney villain), because she was so ferocious (she has wicked spurs!). Possibly she had been used to breed game cocks for fighting? (). I would like to know, just out of curiosity... IS she a specific breed, and/or coloration? Thanks!! Here's mama with her latest batch of little fuzz-balls (minus a few tail feathers, from defending a predator attack!!):
And yes, she's much, MUCH tamer now:
