I'd try to intentionally get mine infected if I knew it's fowl pox mine get it once a year (the young ones ) around August and they are immune for life. Never had one die from it I guess it could kill weak ones but I've never had a fatality from it

That's what that throwback ruble looked like except green legs and he turned out very good. This one have the pumpkin sheen in his tail? Looks like it. Mine didn't have such bright hackles
I like the way he carries himself.

white blisters on thier combs?

Have you tried Amazon?

Havoc, this is coming.  They are slowly making it harder to buy antibiotics off the shelf to use as "preventives".  It may seem painful initially in the short run, but the scary part is antibiotic resistance is a pretty tough challenge.  Many commercial growers simply try to avoid infections in the first place with biosecurity measures, so they do not need to feed preventive antibiotics.

To me, the scariest part of it is for humans.  I read a story last week that a type of bacteria, resistant to even the "antibiotic of last resort", was documented in the US.  It has appeared in other countries, but I think it said it showed up in a culture from a woman with a UTI.  This sort of thing has the potential to change all sorts of things from a common cut to surgeries.
I missed this. Oh yeah I know it is scary. Tons of documented cases where people were getting salmonella from pork. The particular strain of salmonella was resistant to every antibiotic they had and I believe a lady died from it. I'm my humble opinion anyone who uses drugs of any kind as a preventative is just asking for trouble. No antibiotics or vaccines here, just electrolytes and vitamins, feed, water and an occasional watermelon.
