I am thinking a pair. Allows for more resources to devote to birds from somebody else. Gotta have variety. Need have evidence for proper pens first and whatever is needed to keep predators free and clear from those pens.

Lol yeah I have a problem, 15 acres and nowhere to put anything. I'm working on clearing a couple acres, building an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor bathroom building at the moment(all by hand, no power tools), I don't have the time to dedicate to birds like those. Dreams for now, I gotta learn more about gamefowl first. I was raised on a commercial chicken farm and have had meet chickens, nothing like these birds

These days I recommend living near any birds not actually kept in a critter proof building. Too much that might go wrong that you need to be around to correct. Got to be close during winter otherwise you walk farther than I do, a good 100 yards before you get to first pen.

I'm antsy for my big coop i have had my spot picked out for months, it's right out my back door, I would say 50 yards maybe a little farther , I don't mind it being so close I miss the noise. Unfortunately I have a large dead tree that needs cut down before I can build there.. it's always something =_= on a positive note 3 of my 4 dogs were raised around chickens and the other one is deaf and never left unattended, it helps keep the predator problem down.
