I'm sure he meant outbreeding within the breed but from different strain to enhance the line.

ive never caught a bass over 3 lbs i have no problems catching bass ,just never been near any big ones,i reckon,,thats a wallhanger.

I've caught a few close to 5 lbs maybe a little more. The majority are much smaller. I don't fish big lakes though, mostly streams and ponds with a fly rod. I have caught a few 2-3 lbs on tiny flies screwing around with bluegills though. I say "few" because most bigger fish will break off rather quick When using itty bitty flies. Gotta release the drag and let em go, no wrenching them in like they just drilled a buzzbait.
