I Started out about 20 years ago with Old English Game Bantams. If you bred them to have game characteristics, i.e. hard feathers, alertness, heart shape, etc., your birds were said to be of the wrong type. That's okay if that is what they want, but it wasn't for me. I then started a strain of Ginger Red American Game Bantams and had a blast with them. Now, I'm at the beginning stage of raising Black Breasted Red AGB's. I have a small male on some older pullets, or your hens. The females came from a guy in east Texas who said they are of the Kelso strain. I did not buy the females because they were Kelso, but because they best fitted my situation. Some birds, like Johnny Jumper's for example, seem to have their certain characteristics that someone can see that they may very well be from Jumper's strain. Are their certain characteristics unique to Kelso's? If you want a certain strain of birds, do you just rely on the seller's statement?
