I just screwed all my pens down. It's chilly outside with a driving rain. Making life miserable for the young stags and pullets running loose.

Supposed to quit raining here around 1 pm but then it's gonna get windy.
No fishing for me today like I had planned.

They not have anything to get under like an ol building?
Yeah they can get under my deck, under numerous trees, I have two kayaks and two canoes raised off the ground that they can get under but they all still run the yard.

3 things about this pic,

Mullet can be caught on rod and real

Bait is overrated

The fight is a lot better when they swimming away from you

Nice. I haven't used bait of any kind in many years. Last time though I caught an absolutely huge pickerel on a minnow. To me though that's not really fishing. Your just sitting there waiting for something to take something that's alive. The fun of it all is actually fooling the fish with a fly or lure and the varying retrieve you use to entice a fish to bite.
If your takin fish for the dinner table so be it but for sport doesn't hardly seem fun to me.

Years ago these foreign guys were fishing on a trout stream in northern NJ in a artificial only section. They were in the mountains sitting on a bucket along the edge of a trout stream using surf rods chucking some sort of bait fish the size of my hand.
I was on the far bank and once or twice their bait fish plopped practically at my feet on the opposite creek bank.
The only thing that would have made them more annoying would be them sitting in lawn chairs with a radio.

Fresh water I use plastic and throw everything back unless it's sacalait. Salt I use jigs jigged on the bottom or under a popping cork tipped with a piece of shrimp. Favorite is topwater. And if it's a good fish its coming home. My wife likes a piece of shrimp on the bottom cause she likes the excitement of not knowing what she's gonna catch. We were both suppose to go this morning but she couldn't get up so I decided to use up her shrimp from yesterday

I'll keep a trout every now and then if it's badly hooked and I'm camping nearby. I throw em all back otherwise. I don't fish saltwater but I may start this year with stripers, blues and weakfish. We'll see if I can find a place that ain't too crowded. That kind of fly fishing really ain't my thing though. Standing in cold water with waves lapping at you wearing a stripping basket so your line don't get tangled seems kinda annoying to me especially if I ain't eating em.
