Not sure yet... The spanish hen mentioned above was also gifted to me... I had them paired but she couldnt hatch any eggs.. so I let her out with Brown Red...

I paired that Blue Spanish Cock with my Modern Game hen... well she died from heat while setting on eggs... so I took eggs and hen hatched under another broody, which is where that little weird cross stag (posted above) came from.

dont know what I am going to do long term yet... But I like the Spanish.

Usually after 1.5yrs old or so it's easier but this year's hatch wants to kill everything (yay) but at least I have some open pens. The elders are doing ok.

always gotta have a plan B with games in case they can't be paired. Have 5 stags single penned and 2pullets single penned, 1 stag with 2 pullets but pullets are 2 breeds so one has to be pulled, and 3 pullets together I'm hoping they coexist will make it a lot easier

You could always use artificial insemination... Safe for all involved, but more work for sure.

Take only healthy birds. Be prepared to lie a lot. Do not tell people they are the best or worse you have. Say they are extras you do not have space for that survived first culling rounds.

Lmao yeah don't plan on lying too much. And yes I will definitely take the healthiest best looking ones that are done molting. I'm sure they will sell themselves, they're looking purty and a little fat right now. Some are even about to start laying. I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow if I do end up going.

And miss all the fun. This is like noodling for catfish with all the other stuff that might he hiding in those holes.

I also do not have the magazine any more. Had to leave all behind when moving. Never purchased from vendors on magazine because could not see and handle birds before purchasing.

Odds are nothing to be actually purchased. Sellers not all that responsive.
