I don't think it's his earlobe, but both are like that so I could be wrong.  Just doesn't look like any I've seen before.  I called him a rescue because the previous owner gave two roos away to my neighbor.  They met at the a store in a nearby town so for all we know this guy spent his entire life in a pen.  He didn't roost last night on the limb I have in that little pen.  He just sat inside the brood box instead, so I'm guessing he's been living in tight quarters without a place to roost.  His size, body and color make me think he's mixed, 1/2 game roo + 1/2 dominicker hen.  He seems to be pretty young but he's slightly bigger than my red.
he was probably depressed. And yes that's an earlobe not some disease. He's off to a real good start

So he has an equal chance of being rescued from bad conditions or being split up from his penmates where he could have been happy and now he's wondering if he will ever see his friends again cause of a human's opinion.

The guy advertised them to give away and my neighbor picked them up. I don't know if anyone's opinion really matters at this point or ever did.

Ok then the first post should have said that. I would venture to say many gamefowl breeders are very leary of "rescuers".

I don't know anything about the greys all I have are black/greys. If those pics aren't yours I would just make sure they're healthy cause that pumpkin stag is kinda pale faced. A lot of stags are like that though until they mature. Actually the grey is pale faced too.
On second thought disregard I bet it's just the flash from taking the pictures.
