I find this all very interesting...the names(?) of different "breeds"(?) They are all seemingly lumped under Gamefowl, but you have terms like Mugs:), hatch, butcher, flarry, miner, claret, etc.

How do you keep up with it and know which is what. They are all handsome/beautiful in their own right, but it takes a discerning eye to sort some of them out. I think I understand a little of it, like possibly the "Miner" is named after the originator or breeders' last name(?)

Haha, Centra is right, it took me a while to get back to the thread after the change over, but I have also been crazy busy. I try to check in just to keep up on everything you guys are doing. I appreciate all of the info you share!

I have some nice young ones coming along and should get some pics to share. I have a blue wheaton pullet this year that makes me think of Centra. Hope all is well.

SDM, the chicks are growing nicely! It looks like there are two stags in the group. One blue, but may end up splash, can't tell yet as he has some white and black feathers and one that started out black, but now is showing blue. He is strait combed with a brown red appearance. They are smart little birds and friendly too. Since I had to hatch them in the incubator they have been outside with some cooler nights on their own. The first cool night out of the brooder I went to check on them and thought oh no, where did they all go. I called for them and all of their heads popped out of the nest bucket in the corner. All snuggled in to stay warm for the night. Made me laugh.
good to hear glad they doing good. Sounds like what my cubalaya chicks do. I'll have to get a pic

Alot are the names of the person that "developed" a certain family Alot is trusting what the breeder says but there are certain characteristics expected in different families

Sad day. Had to put one of my dobermans down today. He was having trouble going to the bathroom. Was hoping it was an enlarged prostate but he had a tumor. I've never seen a dog go downhill so fast. Within two weeks he lost a lot of weight and you could see and feel the tumor around his butt. Only 7 yrs old. I'm p*ssed he was a d*mn good dog. Buried in the backyard watching over the gamefowl now.

so sorry... 7 years is too soon. May he rest in peace.

I teared up so bad putting my old shepherd down I couldnt see the PIN pad to pay. I should have buried him in the yard.

My old man Pitt died about 6mo ago he was 15 and I had him 12yrs. It was hard but I was thankful for him living that long. I read somewhere Pitts life expectancy was half what he lived. He's buried back next to the cockyard
