Flypen, thanks for sharing all of the pics. Looks like paradise - except for the heat and humidity. lol

Feather quality issues are from breeding and not contained to any specific color... Lavender (self blue) is just more known and common to have it due to mass propagation rather than good breeding management...

Got a pic of her now? :)

Not right this sec. but I will get one latter today... I did check her and her buddy for creepy crawlies they both look clean. The other hen has great looking feathers but different color and slightly different genetics though both same "breed"... the light hen is a hard molter too... I suspect the genetics on the light bird are an issue. I also thought about mice but see no evidence of that either. But I will get up to date pictures of both after work and you guys can see the major difference in feather quality... the feathers also feel different to me. These 2 girls are my return to keeping birds which I try different things on from time to time. One learned thing, I have had more fights with just 2 birds than when I had a huge flock years ago... I think flock dynamics will improve in the long run once I add more birds... but that will be a future experiment. I never had problems adding birds in the past, but after reading everyone else's disasters on BYC I will be more careful when adding the birds next spring.

I learn so much on this thread about behavior it is awesome. I can not thank folks here enough.

That is just too hot. If you follow the Farmer's Almanac, I heard the first cicadas singing yesterday and that means 6 weeks till first frost. That puts us in August, which is unheard of...

My birds are all molting earlier than normal. Even the 1 yr old stags. Strange stuff is going on. I blame Kim Jong Un.

Very Nice! What is he?

The pic did not quote, but I meant the little Grey.

Mine are not in a full blown molt but have started with wing feathers.
