Well I could use some Ice Cream LOL

My husband helped build the new coop... I will post pictures latter. Yes it's a kit a different company than the other one... and it came damaged (so we will need to fix it up a bit more) but it was super cheap and does allow for product review between 2 companies... first company kit better build, sturdier... but this larger coop will work for my needs, but I would not recommend them unless you getting it super cheap... too many broken parts from poor packaging, the other company no pre broken parts good packaging. This also allowed hubby to see coop design up close. Got to build some waterer system next.

Chicken Aggression my dark hen is definitely territorial... well we now know what will set off my dark hen, moving her coop and stomping all over her personal space! LOL... she normally does not want to close of interaction unless you got yummies, but not today oh no. It was all good till I moved the old coop... then she began protesting loudly and running around, she flew up on my shoulder twice and on my lap a couple times as I prepped the area the old coop had been, she was besides herself and panting... then hubby came out to help in her territory and she landed on his forearm (they have been taught to stay on my arm to a certain degree... but they have no relationship with hubby so usually just run from him all together), his shoulders a couple times... never stoping her verbal tirade, she even pecked my foot I knew she was going to too, so she got a sharp peck back from me plus scolding, she started jumping in buckets, knocking them over, and on tools and so I put her in the old coop so we could work as it is hard to do that with an angry hen landing on you every now and then... full on melt down in the old coop, running around, thrashing the wire, up in the coop nesting box area it sounded like a teenager ripping their room apart after being sent to their room... until she finally busted out (I did not latch the coop door up top cause I wanted it cracked for air flow... eventually she discovered that), she then went to a near by shrub where she sulked and never stoped complaining. Last time I went out to check on the hens she was still complaining. The other hen no problem, did not care, she went about her daily routine all happy making happy noises. Even went in and out of the old coop to eat no issues but not the dark hen. Boy is she going to be annoyed at bed time when I put her in the new house. I might give her some rescue remedy tonight from my human medicine cabinet in the hopes it will help alleviate her stress.

Hubby wants his own chickens now... :D

Note the wiring is not sandwhiched in between wood to add extra support against critters pushing in... also note doors are cracked from poor packaging, these doors are not the only broken parts... but like I said it was cheap... We will repair this stuff, got to go to Home Desperate for fix it supplies.

One nice thing about this coop is extra doors with ventilation screen, but no closing door for coop to run... so I will suggest we add that.

Old coop that needs a major scrub again, and I will be getting burrow proof flooring for. Right now it is sitting in an unweeded flower bed... This is a Percision Pet Coop

Note how the wire is better supported by sandwiching it between wood.

Also door for closing coop from run if needed.

Both coops were easy to put together, required only wood screws that came with kits and philips screw driver. Instructions for both were easy enough to follow. I think though Percision Pet makes a more solid coop when comparing the two brands and did not come predamaged.
I wish we could have found a large Percision Pet but alas none in the stores out here had any. Both coops were bought from TSC, at different stores though.

Anyhow I will be working on the two coops tomorrow some more. The plan is to use the old coop for transitioning new birds into established flock or when I need to remove a bird or two from bigger coop for various reasons.

I also have some different types of nipples I need to make into a watering system for both coops.

I think after completing various additional projects on these starter coops to try out some ideas eventually we will build one from scratch.

Looks good! I like the color.
I'm sure you will be able to get creative and make it all work just fine.

Sooo.....when are you getting chicks and what breed(s) have you decided on?
