Seriously? No scent! That's a lot of the problem with so much of our lives. The people that make to laws and rules have never been there done that, they're found setting at a desk everyday and have never experienced anything outside of a piece of paper.

I have some old pictures here somewhere. The hides aren't worth near as much down here in the warmer winters.

Yeah no scent. Gotta track em. It ain't easy. One of the few things I was taught and didn't learn on my own. Most people over think it all.
I use 330 bodygrippers under the ice and snares for beaver when the water is open. Those big traps are no joke. I use Canadian made beslisle brand. They will break your hand in a heartbeat. I use a safety device and safety latches on the traps themselves.
I had some pics of beavers caught under the ice. Think I sent em to sdm111 but I can't find em.
First animal I ever snared was a mink. A bit of luck I'd say since i haven't snared one since.

When I first started trapping otter hides were bringing $250 china was the main buyer. Since then it's went down hill. Around $60 now. Ain't worth skinning them. Gotta do the tail with a razor blade. Hide is tough to get off.
This year I'm taking my son duck hunting and trapping. Gotta get him waders though. $170 for waders for a 5 yr old! It gets cold here so he needs good ones.

Yes sir, your right, if he stays comfortable he'll enjoy the time y'all spend together.
