I grew some just as hobby, stored calories in case of apocalypse. Then I started selling cuttings for people to grow there own...
Now I got opportunity to supply raw sugar cane sticks to a "sugar cane bar" at a hip place nearer the beach.
His tea
Had this guy crawling on my back and my neck almost half the way to work this morning.

Sting not as bad as paper wasp. Only do so defensively so not smashing good. We had one that would fly down multiple hallways with turns inside a hog barn to reach nest rather than change route to go in and out overhead door we opened right next to its nest. With a fast walk you could keep pace with her when carrying mud balls or a spider.
The pop up ads for apps are killing me on here. Getting ridiculous.
If they have ample room then you have better chances... it allows some of the "lower-on-the-totem-pole" chicks the room they need to flee. Having lots of perches also helps. They are penned but they have a big coop and a good size run.I can't free range too many predators.they seem pretty friendly though.I hope they stay this way they are around 9 weeks old.

When hen-reared, pecking order becomes clearly evident about the time the hen stops clucking (approximately 5 weeks post-hatch). That is when hen typically weans brood. Without a hen, clear signs of pecking order can occur early as 2 weeks. Setting up of pecking order can be problematic if conditions such that chicks show "game".At what age to chickens establish a pecking order?so far all mine seem to be on the same level.
