I am sleeping outside to catch a cock that bolted for no reason while I fixed pen. Molting birds are nut cases.
I had one bolt yesterday. I was fixing his roost and he was all over the yard with me chasing. Back into the row of pens he went got him caught up within probably less than a minute. Thankfully only one cock kicked the wire but no damage.

Not 90 seconds from when I heard cock squall before dog was there. Red Fox then flushed with six feet of me as Lucy pushed it through high rag weeds right in center of area I last saw cock. Cock had as much a role in in his demise as did the fox.

havoc we need to start talking more about snares. It is hunting rabbits in heavy bush with comings and goings I think from SW of my cockyard perimeter. That was direction it chose when pushed by dog. I may be able to use poultry netting to funnel it.
I got the male red awhile back but I'm still after the female and her pups. She hasn't been back in a few days now.

This fox is coming in like clock work. I can see its trails clearly. Chickens on ground outside fence results in fewer chickens fast. Will be cool to watch beetles and maggots process this sucker.
