BTW I got raccoons for sure... saw a mamma with her little ones this morning a block from the house, mom was trying to protect her babies from my scary car... so I will take a second look at my coop, I am concerned. I have to open the coop before I go to work, at around 4:30 am... so the raccoons are out still... sigh... will be clearing underbrush next too... I know I got something in my shrubs, cause when I go out in the dark I hear critters moving about.

only evacuated twice and neither time I had any. If I were to there's friends around that would take care of them till I got back. Some people aren't gonna go no matter how bad it gets. I'm only talking about being gone a day or two I've got a generator and stored food and water. If I'm gone for an extended period I probably have bigger problems than the chickens lol

Several friends of mine are getting crawfish bags ready to put their broodfowl in and hang them from the rafters in their barn until the water goes back down.

We had some really bad storms on a sunday/Monday and Hurricane Irene hit here on Tuesday. 21" inches of rain in 3 days. I was sweating bullets waiting for my house to flood. Came right up to the back door but nothing in the house. Thankfully. Think my days were off but in 3 days that was a lot of rain. Chickens were swimming.

You know how it is, some of the guys lost a lot of their fowl last year in the last flooding rain.

Resistance is coming from adults in charge.

Sounds like worry over obscure incidents which could lead to lawsuits... sad, used to be encouraged to learn hands on... too many afraid of too much that rarely ever happens...
