Ya they all squawk for various reasons. Usually because Hawk in tree, or hen laying egg or something spooking them. This white broodcock is extra vocal, and for some reason I put him closest to the house.

I thought mines broken beak was bad enough though he did about kill himself maybe the butcher will produce a slightly smarter bird lol.

I have had a few. Right now, I have 1 fully missing eye and another 2 with eye damage. All are penned... They actually prefer it that way. They seem get to nervous when free ranging, because they cant see whats going on around them.
