Deer are moving horribly here. Having hard time crossing road all over the place. The are coming into pasture much of the night going after persimmons. A couple hundred pounds at least of persimmons eaten. Dogs can keep deer out of area only within 200 feet of house. Deer coming in to where I keep pens and bedding down at night. Dogs are exhausted trying to run them off. Season not started yet and I have not heard of any talking about bucks in rut.
Starts around the last week of October through the 3 week of November here. Varies from year to year though

Right now around here they are more worried about food its time to start fatning up themselves and their young ones deer will move great distances for a spot that has plenty of food for days/weeks on end. Males tend to really drain themselves during rutt and that starts in less than a month here give or take.

It's not a cold snap that triggers the cycle here, normally, it's the shorter photoperiod or sunlight that starts in a few weeks. We rarely have a reason to put a jacket on till mid October.

Bout 8weeks they will be 10weeks on the 25th. Done managed to get rid of one and it was the scalped one, slow maturing bunch feather wise but i also seen that in my other mollted/spangled breed birds which i sold all my sfh off aswell and gifted two so i can focus on the games. Hopefully i can get rid of a few more of these stags and just maybe keep one.

Ill get more photos of the pullets later and post em they are good looking fisty little things.
