In reality, the guns are not used as the holder is more concerned about self preservation and effectively hides or avoids the active foe. People with guns talking bigger than what beneficial actions are in reality.
That may be very true. As far as civilian reaction goes... I dont know the statistics, but I think most people would be very scared to actively confront a gunman.

I was speaking more specifically about police enforcement. They are "good" guys who use guns to stop "bad" guys. No sarcasm. I truly believe 99%+ police are here to protect and serve. I know several.

I would use firearm to stop a "bad" guy.. but I am also a warrior, so thats a given. :)

Law enforcement folks are not in general advocates for having more guns in violent situations.

May also be very true. Confusion on direction of fire and which guy is the suspect. Major problems for law enforcement.

But I know that vigilante type of actions are generally praised in the media. like when homeowners stop home invasion attempts. I am sure if a civilian stopped the Vegas shooter that person who be a Hero and would be having dinner with the President. And NRA would be having a party in honor if he/she used firearm.

99.999999% of people are totally oblivious to their surroundings anyway. With their phones. I know of hallways that say " glass door ahead" on the floor multiple hallways now that's sad

That is the part that is overly represented in talk versus what really happens based on accounts documented. Doing the right thing is a lot less likely to be done than what assertions people give in terms of what they would do.

Yep. Everyone is hero, until they poop their pants when confronted.
I know. Ive played paintball, I've been in the ring, I know the fear and what it takes to overcome it. Its not easy. Real guns would be a whole new level of courage.
I've confronted tough guys and seen fear take hold and freeze them up.

I am guessing you are not a gun advocate? Or maybe just dont like the current talking points from the Right concerning gun control?

I know something about firearms and what it is like to have them used against you. They are most effective with imbalanced dispute where one party has them only or has them out first.

I use firearms and share world with numbnuts that talk a lot but do not act responsibly even when firearms are not involved. Hotheads are a waste of meat.
