Now to me inbreeding not to be confused with line breeding. Inbreeding past the first gen is a big no no.

No sibling to sibling pairing up. Alot of info bout line vs in breed. I don't understand everything when it comes to gamefowl I have learned a ton here but have ordered a few books on it to do me over winter and hopefully better myself.

From start whatever you get pair trio eggs whatever unless you're trading birds you will be breeding like that. You don't have any other choices. Like centra he don't let any other blood in. So how is it avoidable?

Linebreeding can be done so as to occur over multiple generations of offspring. Introduce no new blood during that phase for that line. Every once in a while you test mate from quality stock. BY test mating I like to do multiple individuals from the line of interest to make certain not a fluke. I an outcross consistently produces something you like, then look into folding it in through a process that approximates process of creating grades. You can drag in some good quality alleles while retaining over all character of your line.

Still not answered, how to you pick who is carried forward to breed.

I think this is the key to any form of breeding program. As Flypen wrote, there are resources to show you how to go about setting up the matings, but the key is which individuals to use. This is where having multiple birds to choose from and test matings as Centra wrote. This involves a lot of time and pens to perform test matings and keep the offspring and parents long enough to see if the mating is valuable. Not an easy task.

It is not based just on gameness. There is opinion involved to be sure, but there is assessments made starting at hatch. Weak at hatch and slow growing as chicks, cull. Asymmetry - cull. Odd behavior / consistently low rank - cull. That done before birds loose down from head. Slow feathering - cull. Endurance issues / difficulty getting to elevated roost - cull. First to get caught and eaten by fox when caught in open field - cull (duh).

Ok I'm getting it now. What you're saying centra is all assumed I didn't think that kind of stuff had to be explained. As I've said before from brooder to above ground pens to dome pens to their new homes most don't make it through Each stage. Then again I don't have but a few now

I think many take such things for granted and will breed birds just because of a specific heritage. IMO, it is not just about maintaining a name, but the quality associated with that linage. Breeding in not for everyone.
